Consulting, Teaching and Research

Geotechnical Consulting

Geotechnical Observations can offer advice on geotechnical and structural problems. We have worked on high profile projects such as the Heathrow Terminal 5 project, the New Wembley Stadium Project and Cross Rail. We have also worked on smaller projects. We are particularly well qualified to advise on problems involving slope and embankment stability and insurance claims involving the settlement of house foundations. All work is undertaken on an hourly/daily rate and quotations are available on request.

Teaching

Company Director Dr Andrew Ridley has convened continuing professional development courses on the subjects of soil suction and partly saturated soils. He has also lectured on soil mechanics to undergraduate level and on insitu testing techniques and partly saturated soils at post graduate level. Click here if you would like Dr Ridley to lecture on your taught course or if you would like him to present a CPD course in your office.

Research

Geotechnical Observations is an industrial partner in the MUSE (Mechanics of Unsaturated Soils for Engineering) project and the BIONICS (Biological and Engineering Impacts of Climate Change on
Slopes) project.
